A guide to the Juvéderm® family of filler products in Perrysburg and Fremont, OH

Juvéderm® is arguably the world’s best-known dermal or soft tissue filler. It is not a single product but rather a family of products designed to “fill in” depressed areas, such as wrinkles or hollows and plump-up thin lips. As with all injectable procedures, Juvéderm® is a technique-specific product. You can trust that your health is in safe hands. Mitchell Dermatology is led by a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Hope Mitchell. She and her team in Perrysburg and Fremont, OH, are experienced and knowledgeable in the precise use of Juvéderm® fillers.

Furthermore, Juvéderm® is made from a safe and biocompatible substance: Hyaluronic Acid. HA is naturally occurring in your body’s skin, joints, and eyes. It is a natural moisturizer and lubricant. In turn, when Juvéderm® is injected into folds and hollow or depressed areas, it restores beneficial HA.

The power of choice

Initially, there was Juvéderm® Ultra and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus. The “plus” version refers to how it is formulated with larger particles. So, it can be a suitable option to fill in deeper wrinkles.

Juvéderm® Ultra XC and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC contain lidocaine for enhanced comfort. Generally, HA-based fillers are very well-tolerated by most patients.

FDA-approved to smooth “smile lines” or nasolabial folds around the nose or mouth, these fillers can achieve instant and persistent improvement for up to around one year. Side effects are generally modest and include discoloration, tenderness, swelling, bruising, and itching. Usually, these effects resolve within a week.

Juvéderm® Voluma XC is designed to improve age-related volume loss in the mid-face or cheeks. Results can last for two years. As an “XC” product, Voluma is made with lidocaine for utmost comfort. Side effects are similar to those connected with its wrinkle-smoothing “sister” fillers; however, tenderness, redness, swelling, and surface irregularities can be more persistent.

Last but not least, Juvéderm® Volbella may be your answer to boosting a wrinkled, deflated pucker. Volbella is designed to add volume and definition to the lips and to soften smoker’s lines. Temporary side effects are limited to the treatment site and are the same as with other Juvéderm® fillers.

It is an actual lunchtime, no-downtime procedure. We will still provide instructions to help relieve swelling and other post-injection side effects; for instance, your skin may be extra sensitive to heat and sunlight for the 24 hours after treatment. During a consultation at our office, we can also discuss ongoing maintenance injections to keep your stunning results.
