Acne and Rosacea Treatment
At Mitchell Dermatology, we offer comprehensive acne and rosacea consultations and treatment, including topical and systemic approaches. Acne and rosacea treatment is one of our areas of specialty and expertise.
Acne occurs when an overgrowth of sebum (oily substance), dead skin cells, and normal bacteria collect and plug up the follicles, causing inflammation and redness.
Rosacea is a common skin disease that causes redness and swelling on the face. As the disease progresses, small blood vessels and tiny pimples begin to appear on and around the reddened area. In more advanced cases of rosacea, the oil glands enlarge causing a bulbous, enlarged red nose and puffy cheeks. Rosacea can also affect the eyes, causing conjunctivitis or other serious eye problems.
Pediatric Dermatology
We treat all of our younger patients with extra-special care. We know that a visit to the doctor can be scary for little ones, and we make every effort to make the experience gentle, friendly, and effective. Pediatric Dermatology services we offer include the treatment of acne, allergic contact dermatitis, alopecia areata, atopic dermatitis, eczema, molluscum, psoriasis, and warts.
Ethnic Skin Care
Dr. Mitchell is the first and only African-American clinical dermatologist in Toledo. She specializes in the treatment of many conditions common to persons of color including keloids, pseudofolliculitis barbae (razor bumps), tinea capitus (ringworm), dermatosis papulosa nigra (moles on the face, neck or chest), pityriasis alba (light patches on the face) and eczema.
Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively. People with hyperhidrosis may sweat in cool temperatures or when they are at rest. Treatments for hyperhidrosis include antiperspirants, medications, Iontophoresis, Botox and Sympathectomy.
